On August 31, 2000, a group of energized Democrats, living in Northeast Scottsdale met and formed what is now known as FOOTHILLS DEMOCRATS. These half dozen activists held the belief that a Democratic presence in the Foothills area was needed to bring progressively minded citizens together. Few would have imagined that this small group, a few short years ago, has grown to over 100 active members! Our organization now encompasses both North Scottsdale. Carefree, Cave Creek and Northeast Phoenix. We have proven our strength and demonstrated our relevance to the greater political community.

Foothills Democrats has had an impact on local, state, and national elections. Our members make phone calls, knock on doors, write checks, post signs and make their views known. As a growing organization, we sponsor fund raising activities and contribute financially to worthy local candidates as well as state and county Democratic organizations. Our members are often leaders in other local, county and state organizations. With our support, Democratic candidates have been elected to offices who may not otherwise have been successful.

We focus on learning about important issues and candidates during our morning, noon and evening meetings. Our Speakers Forum welcomes candidates, government officials, professors and leaders of other organizations to speak about issues important to our community, state and nation.  Occasionally, we meet socially at a "Spur of the Moment" conversation during "happy hour". This social event gives us all a chance to "let our hair down" and enjoy the many friendships we share.

We have worked  hard and come a long way, but, we still have much work to do. We want you to be part of our exciting social and political venture.  Won't you please join us?

Our mission is to build a strong political organization, based on core Democratic Principles, which encourages discussion, education and social interaction among its members regarding current local, state and national political issues. We will support those candidates we believe offer the best solutions to current political issues. This organization is open to all progressive thinkers.
